At press time, Excelsior Springs was seeking its first dual win of 2024 in girls wrestling. The Tigers opened the new year with a 54-24 loss Jan. 3 at Smithville. The Warriors claimed eight on-the-mat victories in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division dual, with every win coming by fall. Alyssa Betts got Excelsior Springs’ first win by pinning Skylee Meadows in the 135-pound division. The senior’s pin came during the second period. Analese Happy, a first-year high schooler, notched Excelsior Springs’ other on-the-mat victory, pinning Cali Hatcher in 24 seconds at 110.
