Excelsior Springs played in a nailbiter and a rout before its varsity girls basketball season was paused by the area’s latest winter storm.The thriller was a 45-44 Feb. 10 home win over Raytown South. The rout was a 69-17 Feb. 14 road loss to Grandview. The split put the girls at 7-11 overall and 2-3 in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division.In the win over Ray South, Excelsior Springs led 10-4 after one quarter, 2724 at halftime and 33-29 after three quarters. Ray South edged Excelsior Springs 15-12 the final quarter.Juniors Josie Casler and Bella Loeffert led the Tigers to victory with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
