EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The regular season is complete for the Tigers in girls wrestling.

The Tigers finished that portion of their schedule last week with a triangular with Pleasant Hill and Oak Grove Jan. 25 and a dual with Marshall Jan. 27, both at home. They swept the triangular and fell to Marshall.

The lady grapplers cruised past Pleasant Hill 30-9, claiming five open wins. The Chicks won a match by a forfeit and a contested match at 135 pounds, with CheyAnn Johnson claiming a 5-3 decision over Excelsior Springs senior Paige Barber.

Excelsior Springs downed Oak Grave 36-0. The black-and-gold girls received five open wins. Senior Jacey Brewer won by a first-period fall at 125 over Lauren Phillips to complete the shutout.

In the 36-30 loss to Marshall, Brewer won by fall over Amaiya McClinton. Senior Sierra Stodden returned from an injury to secure a 27-second win by pin over Bailey Riley.

Sophomore Jaylenn Hudlemeyer lost by a first-period pin to Ayla Casteneda. Freshman Izabella Morgan also fell in the first period.

Excelsior Springs picked up three wins by forfeit. Marshall, however, won four matches by forfeit to claim the team win.

A dual with Center scheduled for this week was canceled.

Excelsior Springs will begin postseason competition this weekend at Oak Park in Kansas City in the District 4 Tournament. The girls state tournament is slated for Feb. 17-19 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
