In late May, Excelsior Springs put a formal finishing touch on its varsity girls soccer season with an end-of-season banquet at the high school. The event came less than two weeks after Excelsior Springs’ final game – an 8-0 loss to St. Pius X of Kansas City on May 17 at Dave Goodwin Field in Cameron in the Class 2 District 8 Tournament. It was the final game for Zac Ganzer as the team’s head coach. Days later, he announced his resignation on social media. The Excelsior Springs girls finished 11-9 in Ganzer’s final season with them. Abby Rash helped the Tigers secure their winning record by leading them with 26 goals, followed by Bailey Carder with 17 goals. Other goal-scorers were Lauren Mueller, Ava Morton and Shelby Stodden with two apiece. Khilee Costello and Neveah Happy each scored one goal.
