ES girls yield 62 points in back-to-back losses

Excelsior Springs ran into two hotshooting teams last week in varsity girls basketball. First, the Tigers met Kearney Feb. 6, falling 62-29. Then, they met Raytown South Feb. 8, falling 62-19. Both Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division losses were on the road. BULLDOGS GROWL Kearney took control with a 24-point first quarter. Sparked by a 17-5 secondquarter run, the Bulldogs led 41-17 at halftime. The Bulldogs led by 32 after three quarters. Turnovers hurt Excelsior Springs. The Tigers committed 15 turnovers, with Kearney scoring 22 points off those turnovers. Kinley Rogers led Excelsior Springs with 15 points and was the sole Tiger in double figures. The sophomore went 7-for-7 on field goal attempts.
