EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The black and gold went 0-3 last week in varsity boys tennis matches, falling to Carrollton, Harrisonville and Warrensburg. On April 5, the team visited Carrollton, falling 7-2. The No. 3 doubles team of sophomores Lee Mueller and Colby Mueller won 9-7, and Lee Mueller won his No. 5 singles match 8-0 to account for Excelsior Springs’ victories. Senior Caleb Hatfield dropped the No. 1 singles match 8-0. Senior Antonio Martinez fell in the No. 2 slot 8-3. Sophomore Joshua Oldham fell 8-0, senior Slade Tackett lost 8-1 and Colby Mueller fought before dropping his singles match 8-5. Hatfield and Oldham fell 8-3 in No. 1 doubles. Martinez and Tackett dropped the No. 2 doubles match 9-8 in a seesaw battle. On April 6, Excelsior Springs fell to visiting Harrisonville 7-2 in Missouri River Valley Conference West Division play.
