ES preps for homecoming after Grandview loss
After back-to-back weeks of playing state top 10-ranked Class 4 11-man football programs on the road, the Tigers get to come home again.
Excelsior Springs will face St. Joseph Central Friday night at Tiger Stadium for homecoming. The Tigers return after a 49-6 loss to Smithville Sept. 22 and a 47-7 Sept. 29 defeat by Grandview.
The Tigers gained 256 yards rushing against Grandview. Claypole led the attack with 111 yards on 24 carries. Other contributors included senior Rhys Guthrie with 80 yards on six carries and sophomore Gage Carr with 31 yards on six carries.
Defensively, junior Dominick Rogers had 7.5 tackles for Excelsior Springs in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division gridiron clash. Other contributors included Jason Starchman, a senior, with 4.5 tackles; and Lane Crowley, also a senior, with 3.5.
