ES sends five to state track meet
Excelsior Springs is sending five members of its varsity track and field program to Class 4 state competition this weekend.
Joseph James, Kolin Kincaid, Kolt Willis, Katie Houck and Kinley Rogers
will represent the Tigers at the Friday-Saturday meet at Jefferson City. They each secured spots at state with top-four finishes at Class 4 Sectional 4 competition May 18 at William Chrisman High School in Independence.
James, who graduated May 10 from Excelsior Springs, qualified by winning the boys 110-meter high hurdles in 15.74 seconds. He was the program’s lone sectional champion.
Kincaid qualified by finishing second in the long jump, leaping 6.36 meters. Willis, who also graduated this spring, completed the group of boys qualifiers by placing third in the discus with his throw of 48.87.
