ES softballers enter postseason; finish regular season 11-13

It’s postseason time for Excelsior Springs in varsity softball. At press time, the fourth-seeded Tigers were slated to open the Class 4 District 8 Tournament Thursday against fifthseeded, Independence-based William Chrisman at Miracle Field, with the winner to face the Kearney-Lincoln College Prep winner in the semifinals of the single-elimination tournament at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, also at Miracle Field. The Tigers were 11-13 entering postseason play, going 2-1 their final week of regular-season play. They opened that week by trouncing Kansas Citybased Ruskin 18-0 on Oct. 2 at Excelsior Springs. Sophomores Bella Loeffert, Kayden Rogers and Keira Romazon led the way offensively with three hits each. Loeffert and Romazon also had three RBIs apiece. In addition, Romazon picked up the pitching win in the three-inning victory. Her stat line included three strikeouts and one hit.
