ES softballers go 2-3 for week
For the first time this varsity softball season, the Tigers had a week when they lost more games than they won.That week was last week. Excelsior Springs went 2-3, falling 11-8 Sept. 16 at St. Joseph Central, edging Winnetonka 6-5 Sept. 17 in Kansas City, falling 9-2 Sept. 19 to visiting Kearney and then splitting two Sept. 21 games.Excelsior Springs was in position to defeat St. Joe Central, leading by eight runs after two innings before the Indians rallied. Against Winnetonka, however, it was the Tigers who rallied, taking the lead in the top of the seventh and holding on for the one-run victory.After the seven-run, Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division loss to Kearney, the girls played in a Saturday triangular with Lawson and Sherwood in Lawson.
