ES sweeps MRVC West triangular
CLINTON – When it came to varsity boys golf this spring, Excelsior Springs was difficult to beat in Missouri River Valley Conference West Division play.
The Tigers went 6-1 in divisional matches, with their only loss coming to Pleasant Hill by one stroke in their opening triangular. They capped their MRVC West schedule April 19 at the Meadow Lake Country Club in Clinton by sweeping a triangular with Clinton and Harrisonville.
Senior Ethan Edwards led Excelsior Springs to victory and was the medalist by shooting a 37 for the nine-hole event.
“Ethan is playing really well right now and that has been helping out our less experienced players,” coach David Stalder said.
Sophomore Jacob Schmidt shot a 43, followed by junior JB Prestia with a 46 and junior Ryan Gluhm with a 48. The combined team score of 174 put the Tigers 16 strokes ahead of Clinton and 19 strokes ahead of Harrisonville.
