ES volleyballers get swept to open sesaon
The Tigers have won their first set this varsity volleyball season.They’re still, however, seeking their first match victory.Excelsior Springs was 0-4 through Tuesday’s home loss to St. Joseph Central. The stretch included losses Sept. 3 at Oak Park, Sept. 4 at Oak Grove and Sept. 5 to visiting North Kansas City – all 3-0.Junior Jordin Price led the Tigers in kills in their loss to Oak Grove with four. Other contributing attackers included sophomore Bayli Crowley, who had three kills. Excelsior Springs produced 17 kills overall.Defensively, junior Lillah Shue led Excelsior Springs with six digs, followed by junior Maya Watkins and sophomore Maddie Breshears with five each.The Tigers nearly avoided a sweep in their home opener with Northtown.
