ES volleyballers get on winning path
Excelsior Springs has gotten on a hot streak in varsity volleyball.
After an 0-4 start, the Tigers had won nine of their last 12 matches entering Thursday’s meeting with visiting Grandview. That streak included a 6-2 tear last week, sparked by wins Sept. 11 over visiting Lawson, Sept. 12 at Maryville and Sept. 14 over visiting Lexington.
Lawson dominated the first two sets of Excelsior Springs’ 3-2 win, taking set No. 1 25-14 and the second set 25-16. Excelsior Springs flipped the momentum in the third set by battling to a 25-21 win. The Tigers then took the fourth set 25-20 and the final set 15-6.
The Tigers took the first set of their 3-1 road victory over Maryville 25-14. The Spoofhounds answered with a 25-20 win in set No. 2. Excelsior Springs took the next two sets, 25-18, 25-14.
Excelsior Springs swept Lexington 25-11, 25-19, 2515.
