ES volleyballers sweep Cards, then fall to Eagles

Excelsior Springs varsity volleyball coach Kathryn Patridge likes what she has seen from her Tigers from Sept. 6 onward.
“The girls have really stayed together, and their work ethic on and off the court has been great. And I have confidence in all six girls we have on the court at any time,” Partridge said.
The united, hardworking Tigers, who opened the season 0-4, had won 12 of their last 17 matches entering Thursday’s Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division meeting with visiting Kearney. That stretch going 1-1 last week, with Excelsior Springs sweeping Raytown South 3-0 Sept. 26 at Excelsior Springs and falling 3-0 Sept. 28 at Grain Valley.
The Ray South sweep started with a 25-10 victory. The Tigers held off the Cardinals in the next two sets, 25-18, 25-19, to secure the Blue Division win.
