ES XC runners visit Columbia, host invitational

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers got a sneak peek at the cross country course they hope to run in a few weeks in state competition. They did so by running Sept. 26 in the Gans Creek Classic at Columbia. The Excelsior Springs girls competed in the Purple Division, finishing sixth out of 11 teams with 146 points. Harrisburg also finished with 146 points, with Excelsior Springs winning the tiebreaker. North Callaway was the division champion with 82 points. Rita Eimer, a senior at St. Pius X of Festus was the individual winner of the 3.1-mile varsity race with her time of 20 minutes, 5.3 seconds. Junior Jacey Brewer paced Excelsior Springs, finishing in 23:40.5 for 19th. Freshman Lindsay Parkin was the team’s No. 2 runner, placing 26th place with her time 24:10.2. Junior Lacey Miller finished in 24:18.3, good for 30th. Senior Zacalen Lohman finished 52nd in 26:37.9. Junior Macey Chaney finished in 26:55.9 for 57th.
