ESFA season ends
The Excelsior Springs Football Association has added to its trophy collection.
Recently, the association’s third-grade and fifth-grade teams each won a West Central Youth Football League Red Division title. Following regular-season play, the league’s top four teams in each age group competed in the Blue Division playoffs, with the next four competing in the Red Division playoffs.
The third-grade Tigers, who finished 6-2, secured their title by defeating Clinton 25-0 in their tournament semifinals and then edging Odessa 13-8 in the championship game. Kade Chilson scored both touchdowns for Excelsior Springs in the title game.
The fifth-grade Tigers (3-5) secured their title by defeating Harrisonville 21-0 in the semifinals and then edging Oak Grove in overtime on a touchdown by Brodie Killion.
Excelsior Springs had three teams play in Red Division competition. The association’s fourth-grade team fell to Oak Grove 25-0 in semifinal play and finished 3-4.
