Excelsior Springs High School’s club bowling program found an extra reason to celebrate during the holiday season. On Dec. 18, two teams representing the club competed in a tournament at Summit Lanes in Lee’s Summit. Excelsior Springs 1 – consisting of Joshua Oldham, Andrew DeOrnellis, Olivia Smith, Brody Hurla and Colt Bowman – took the title by rolling a 2,166. Runner-up Lee’s Summit West finished with a 2,127. Excelsior Springs 2 – consisting of David Falconer, Cole Dickey, Olivia Deer, Quinlynn Smith and Kamdyn McAndrews – placed fifth among the 16 teams with a 1,935. For the first round, Excelsior Springs 1 defeated Lee’s Summit 186-161 and Excelsior Springs 2 fell to Lee’s Summit North 1 165-148. Both Excelsior Springs teams were victorious in the second round, with Excelsior Springs 1 defeating Staley 158-137 and Excelsior Springs 2 topping Oak Park 1 173-131.
