ESHS sends quintet to state

As of this writing, a second state high school title in three seasons was in reach for Cooper Collins, even if an undefeated season no longer was.Collins, a two-time state medalist and the 2023 Class 2 113-pound state champion, represented Excelsior Springs this week at the Class 2 boys state tournament. The competition opened Wednesday and concluded Thursday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Look for additional coverage March 7.Collins was among five grapplers representing Excelsior Springs. The others were Ryne Marcum, Justin Wright, Logan Bates and Carson VanDoremalen.The fivesome qualified for state by placing in the top four of their respective weight classes at the Class 2 District 4 Tournament, held Feb. 21-22 at Excelsior Springs.
