ESHS softballers blanked by Chrisman in districts
Shutouts characterized the first round of the Class 4 District 8 Tournament.
Excelsior Springs was on the losing side of one of those shutouts.
The Tigers (11-14) saw their varsity softball season end with a 6-0 loss to William Chrisman, an Independencebased school, Oct. 12 at Miracle Field. The Bears took control with two runs in the first inning. Chrisman broke away with three runs in the second and scored its final run in the fifth.
Sophomore Keira Romazon threatened to spoil Chrisman’s bid for a shutout by swatting a two-out double in the second. Senior Bailey Carder and sophomore Kayden Rogers also had a hit each.
In other first-round news, top-seeded Kearney crushed Lincoln College Prep 22-0, Platte County hammered Kansas City-based Winnetonka 10-0 and Smithville routed St. Teresa’s Academy, a Kansas City-based private school, 130.
