ESHS softballers hone their diamond chops with Cyclones

Some Excelsior Springs softball players are honing their skills together during their high school offseason with a local club team. The team, the Cyclones, primarily plays in the Kansas City metro area. However, the ballclub also spends some time outside the area, traveling around the Midwest to seek out competition. Consisting of 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old, the Cyclones compete in the 16-and-under A competitive division. The core of the team consists of Excelsior Springs High School players. Players from the Lawson, Richmond and Park Hill school districts complete the roster. The Cyclones, who started their spring season in March, were 15-24-3 as of this writing. Excelsior Springs’ Kinley Rogers was leading the team in batting with a .439 average, followed by Lawson’s Madi Cross, who was batting .413; and Excelsior Springs’ Josie Casler, who was hitting .384.
