Excelsior Springs’ winning varsity softball season got capped with an awards banquet Tuesday night.Convening with her Tigers at the high school, coach Megan Gilbertson gave awards to Josie Casler, Alyssa Dean, Kinley Rogers, Kayden Rogers and Keira Romazon. Casler, a junior, won the Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award.Dean was named Offensive MVP. The senior also was a co-recipient with Kinley Rogers of the Tiger Pride Award.Kayden Rogers and Romazon were each awarded the Defensive MVP Award.Tuesday’s awards were the latest in a string of postseason honors given to members of the ballclub. Those accolades included Class 3 all-state honors for Casler and Dean. Casler was named firstteam catcher.
