EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs boys netters slogged their way through last week’s cold and wind to split a pair of Missouri River Valley Conference West Division varsity dual tennis matches. On April 5, Excelsior Springs defeated Harrisonville 5-4 at Harrisonville. The Exceslior Springs golfers then fell 9-0 on April 7 to the visiting Warrensburg team. The Harrisonville match was decided in singles play, where Excelsior Springs picked up four of its five wins. Juniors Evan Hormell, Lee Mueller, Nolan Greim and Matthew Rebello each notched victories. Hormell’s 8-5 win came in the No. 2 spot. Lee Mueller won 9-8 win in the third position. Greim won the No. 5 match 8-1. Rebello notched an 8-3 win in the sixth spot. Mueller and junior Joshua Oldham got Excelsior Springs’ final win 8-3 in No. 2 doubles.
