Excelsior Springs volleyballers drop seventh straight match
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are trying to work through a losing streak in varsity volleyball.
Through Tuesday, Excelsior Springs had lost seven straight matches – sixth of them against opponents in the loaded Missouri River Valley Conference West Division.
Excelsior Springs’ latest loss came Tuesday at Clinton, as the Tigers fell 3-0. The Cardinals took the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division meeting 25-20, 25-17, 25-18.
The loss followed an Oct. 15 home loss to MRVC West foe Pleasant Hill. The Chicks came out hitting and taking advantage of mistakes made by the Tigers, sweeping the best-of-five match 3-0.
The Chicks jumped out to a 6-1 lead before junior Morgan Krier stopped some of the momentum on a tip that fell to the floor. The teams traded the next two points before the Chicks went on the attack and pulled away, taking the first set 25-9.
The second set started better for Excelsior Springs, with the teams going back and forth and taking advantage of each other…
