Fall sports practices begin at ESHS
School hasn’t started at Excelsior Springs, but fall sports practices have.
Nearly 200 athletes had their first preseason practice with an Excelsior Springs fall program Monday – the first day fall teams could practice, per Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations. As the association also dictates, student athletes must have at least 14 days of practice to be eligible to participate in a MSHSAA-sanctioned activity, such as a regular-season game or tournament.
The Tigers will compete in seven MSHSAAsanctioned sports this fall: football, softball, girls tennis, volleyball, cross country, boys golf and boys soccer. At the varsity level, the regular season gets underway on the following dates: football and girls golf, Aug. 25; softball, Aug. 25-26; volleyball and girls tennis, Aug. 28; cross country, Aug. 29; boys soccer, Aug. 29-31. Like previous years, each program will participate in regular-season competitions to prepare for postseason competition.
