Girls, boys third at Kearney Invitational
KEARNEY – When it came to the team standings, the Tigers were consistent April 8 at the Kearney Invitational, with the boys and girls teams both placing third.
“We picked up 40 personal records on the day,” coach Jonah Albertson said. “Overall, we had a great day all together.”
On the boys side, the Tigers picked up two first-place finishes, with sophomore Mason Wartner winning the 1,600-meter run in 4 minutes, 55.43 seconds and sophomore Kolt Willis winning the discus by throwing 44.42 meters.
Wartner also took second in the 800, finishing in 2:12.08. In addition, the Excelsior Springs boys got second-place finishes from junior Gavin Wilmes in the 300 intermediate hurdles with his time of 44.14, junior Ethan Williams in the long jump with his leap of 6.19 and senior Tyler Rumore in the 1,600 with his time of 5:02.05.
