Happy, Goetz battle to fifth at Katy Trail
Analese Happy and Lilly Goetz led Excelsior Springs to a top-10 finish in the girls team standings at The Battle at the Katy Trail.Happy, a sophomore; and Goetz, a first-year high schooler, each placed fifth at the Dec. 20-21 wrestling tournament, held on the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia. Their finishes helped the Tigers come in seventh among 48 teams with 164 points – 16 points ahead of eighth-place finisher Lawson.Happy’s road to fifth in the 110-pound division started with a bye. She won her second-round match by pin. A loss in the winner’s-bracket quarterfinals sent Happy to the consolation bracket, where she won three straight matches.Like Happy, Goetz’s road to fifth at 120 started with a bye.
