Hutton’s clutch shots help ES girls win thriller
KNOB NOSTER – When Excelsior Springs needed Lara Hutton to come through in the clutch Monday night in varsity girls basketball, Hutton turned to her training.Excelsior Springs was leading Richmond 44-43 when Hutton was fouled with 5.7 seconds left in the final quarter of the Class 4 District 14 Tournament showdown. Coolly, the junior sank her two free throws to help the Tigers hold on for a 46-43 victory at Knob Noster High School.“We work on free throws every practice for 10 minutes,” Hutton said. “So it’s just kind of natural at this point, and that’s all I was thinking about behind the line,” she said.Hutton was one of Excelsior Springs’ top two scorers.
