The sun literally shone on Alicja Jarosz for her last match of the Excelsior Springs Girls Tennis Invitational.Jarosz, an international exchange student at Excelsior Springs, rode those rays of sunshine to a 6-4 victory over Harrisonville’s Abbey Coffey for the No. 1 singles title at the Sept. 24 varsity competition.“The last game, it was the perfect temperature – my dream temperature because of the sun,” Jarosz said minutes after her win. “I love sunny days because when there’s sunshine, I have better energy, motivation. And I just feel better.”The weather that afternoon was about 10 degrees warmer than the current temperatures in Jarosz’s native Poland, she estimated.“I like it better here,” Jarosz said.
