Kelly leads Excelsior Springs at Odessa Tournament
RICHMOND – Olivia Kelly cracked the top 20 Monday at the Odessa Tournament at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.
By finishing her 18-hole, par-71 round with a 113 (+42), the Excelsior Springs junior finished in a three-way tie for 20th. Her performance helped the Tigers place ninth in the team standings.
Excelsior Springs shot a combined 497. Sophomore Kylee Baldridge shot a 118 (+47) to finish in a three-way tie for 28th. Sophomore Megan Cook shot a 130 (+59) for 48th and senior Laney Creason shot a 136 (+55) to finish in a three-way tie for 50th.
Excelsior Springs was one of two area schools at the tournament. Richmond shot a combined 483 and finished eighth, led by junior Kennedy Wrisinger, who considered her performance a reminder of the importance of staying hungry and humble.
After “a really strong week last week” that included medal-winning performances in match and tournament play, Wrisinger speculated she was “probably a little too confident” when she started her round.
