Latest Olympiad shows need for more thrilling events

There needs to be more Olympic sports, especially Summer Olympic sports. This realization was sparked in part from watching parts of NBCSN’s marathon coverage of the XXXII Olympiad, slated to conclude Sunday in Tokyo. Or rather, it has led me to realize there should be more entertaining Summer Olympic sports. Now, when I say “more,” I do not mean a gazillion-billion-jillion-trillion-quadrillion more events. I mean a few more. Much of what NBCSN has televised has been enjoyable, such as the programming of softball, basketball and beach volleyball. But a few events lack the drama – i.e., the action – that makes following sports entertaining. Take, for example, synchronized swimming.
