High heat, drop kicks, random observations and points that amuse are all part of the wide, wide world of sports at the community and national levels.

I find myself wanting to learn more about an area coaching legend who recently passed.

I’m referring, of course, to Victor “Vic” Edward Bonuchi. As I’ve mentioned in at least one previous column, I talked to him a few times during the 1990s as a correspondent for The Examiner, a Jackson Countybased daily newspaper. The first time was after Bonuchi and his Tigers had pasted Raytown South at Roosevelt Field. And if memory serves, I talked to him a few times when baseball programs in The Examiner’s coverage area played at Excelsior Springs. Alas, I can’t remember who the Excelsior Springs baseballers played.
