A look back: Excelsior Springs varsity girls basketball
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers started this varsity girls basketball season on a hot streak, but struggling to regain their rhythm as the season wore on.
They won four of the first five, scoring wins over Richmond and Lexington before playing in the Husker Classic at Lafayette County of Higginsville. There, Excelsior Springs defeated Windsor and won a rematch with Richmond.
While struggling through a battle with pandemic-induced quarantines, the Tigers dropped six out of their next eight, defeating Lafayette County and Warrensburg to avenge two losses from earlier in the season. They went on to finish 7-9, ending the season with a 57-22 loss to St. Joseph Lafayette in the first round of district play.
The team averaged 42.9 points per game and allowed 45.9 points per game. They shot 29.4% from the field, including 24.7% from behind the three-point line.
