Wins continue to elude Excelsior Springs in varsity girls basketball. The Tigers had lost nine straight entering Thursday night’s Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division road meeting with Grandview. Those losses included two Blue Division defeats last week – 54-16 to Kearney Feb. 6 and 78-19 to Raytown South Feb. 9, both at Excelsior Springs. The loss to Kearney included 23 Excelsior Springs turnovers that resulted in 33 Kearney points. It also was characterized by the Tigers trying to play catchup. The Bulldogs led 14-4 after one quarter and 29-6 at halftime. Kearney then outscored Excelsior Springs 17-4 the third quarter and edged the Tigers 8-6 the fourth quarter. Junior Baylee O’Dell and first-year high schooler Josie Casler led the Tigers in scoring with four points each. Bella Loeffert, a first-year high schooler, scored three points.
