McBee sees Midwest, hones baseball skills

Like many high school athletes, soon-to-be Excelsior Springs junior Zeb McBee is using this summer to train for interscholastic sports – and do some traveling. McBee, who plays high school football and baseball, plays for the Impact Athletes Baseball Club. “My favorite part of playing club ball is the improvement you see while playing against high-level competition,” McBee said. This summer, Impact has played in tournaments in such places as Parkville in Missouri; Olathe, Emporia and Fort Scott in Kansas; and Bentonville, Arkansas, according to McBee. Traveling to parts of the Midwest has allowed McBee to see players he wouldn’t normally see in the Kansas City area, he said. “The skill gap with competition ball is a big difference because it is more consistent,” McBee said. “The high school atmosphere can be much more laid back, but with more of a goal of winning championships, instead of skill development.” ...
