Moffett, Rogers win titles at Blue Division meet
On May 3, Braxton Moffett and Kinley Rogers left Raytown South High School as champions.
The two Excelsior Springs student athletes won a title apiece at the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division track and field championships. Moffett, a senior, won the boys pole vault by clearing 3.95 meters. Rogers, a first-year high schooler, broke her school javelin record with her winning throw, 35.36.
Rogers also finished second in the shot put by throwing 10.75 – one of two runnerup finishes by the Excelsior Springs girls. Junior Reagan Block cleared 2.6 for second in the pole vault.
The Excelsior Springs boys took second in five events. Gavin Wilmes led the way with runner-up finishes in two events – the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles. The senior ran the 110s in 15.79 seconds and the 300s in 41.19.
