EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers had what girls tennis coach Richie Marsh called “a tough start to the season” Tuesday against visiting Harrisonville.

“Harrisonville returned four of their six top players from last season and we looked like we were timid in our first match of the year,” Marsh said.

Excelsior Springs dropped the Missouri River Valley Conference West Division dual 8-1. Sophomore Annalise Selby dropped the No. 1 singles match 8-2. Sophomore Amanda Mayfield fell 8-0 in No. 2 singles. Senior Lizzy Casey lost the No. 3 singles match 8-3.

Junior Kaylie Como won the No. 4 singles match 8-4.

Senior Sadie Moore and sophomore Emma Kern dropped their singles matches, 8-3 and 8-2, respectively.

The Wildcats swept the Tigers in the three doubles matches.
