New coaching era is underway with baseball program
A new era is underway for Excelsior Springs varsity baseball.Cale Lyons, a former St. Joseph Central coach, is leading the Tigers. He succeeds Aaron Holst, who retired out of the Excelsior Springs School District in 2025 and is coaching baseball at Northland Christian in Kansas City.Or rather, Lyons will lead the Tigers when he returns from deployment. Cody Vaughn, one of his assistants, is serving as interim head coach.The Tigers got the new era off to a 2-1 start. They opened the season March 20 by thumping Raytown 14-1.
