New year, new ways to win for Excelsior Springs baseball

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – With the coronavirus taking the field, there is no certainty there will be a Tiger baseball season. Still, plans have been made. The last two seasons of Tiger baseball have produced more than 40 wins and a third-place finish in the 2018 Class 4 tournament. The 2020 version of Tiger baseball will look different from the last two seasons, as Coach Aaron Holst looks to fill the voids left by eight graduating seniors. “I am extremely excited to see where we can go,” Holst said before the close of district schools. “The competition in practice is high right now, based on the number of holes we have to fill.” The Tigers finished 2019 with a 21-9 record and shared the Missouri River Valley Conference West title with Warrensburg. Entering his 19th year at the helm, Holst said the Tigers have a chance to pitch well, with four hurlers. Junior Jalen Soria will be asked to help build on a successful sophomore campaign.
