Offense powers ES to title
Excelsior Springs varsity softball coach Megan Gilbert and her Tigers already have a championship under their belts this season – still less than a week old.By scoring 41 runs and pounding out 40 hits, Excelsior Springs went 4-0 and claimed the Cameron Tournament championship Aug 31. Collectively, the Tigers batted .370 for the one-day tournament.“We have really been focusing on picking each other up when we make mistakes and that was huge for our team throughout the day,” Gilbertson said.The Tigers scored 10 of their runs in a nine-run victory over Cameron.
