O’Neill heads to Baker after short ESHS career
During his year at Excelsior Springs High School (ESHS), Booker O’Neill made a noteworthy impression on campus, according to Doug Baker, district athletic director.Now, O’Neill hopes to make a noteworthy impression at Baker University, where he has signed to play for the men’s basketball program.As The Standard recently reported, a signing ceremony for O’Neill took place May 8 in the Performing Arts Center. The ceremony included a short speech by Baker.“Even though his time here has been relatively short with us, we have absolutely loved him being a Tiger – both being on our basketball court, in our hallways – probably more hallways than classrooms sometimes,” Baker said, drawing a few laughs.The students, teachers and administrators wish O’Neill the best in his pursuits after high school, Baker said.
