Lauren Park and Bailee Baxter couldn’t be defeated when they wrestled for Excelsior Springs High School Jan. 6 at the Kearney Varsity Girls Tournament. Park, a sophomore; and Baxter, a junior, each finished as champions. Park claimed the 145-pound B division title by picking up two wins by fall. Baxter claimed the 135 B title with two wins, also by fall. The Tigers also produced three runners-up: Justus Sutton, Alyssa Betts and Vada Burton. Sutton, a first-year high schooler, took second at 110 B, going 1-1. Her win was by pin. Betts, a junior, went 2-1 at 125 B, getting a win by fall and another by decision. Burton, a senior, went 1-1 at 130 A, picking up a win by decision. In other tournament results, sophomore Izabella Morgan and Adrien Crawley, a first-year high schooler, each finished third.
