ST. CHARLES – The Tigerettes danced their way to a state championship Feb. 26. Participating in a competition hosted by the Missouri Dance Team Association at Family Arena, the squad brought home the Division 3 prop title. The winning performance, choreographed by Tigerette alum Samantha Barrett of the Dance Theater Workshop, was a barre prop routine with fierceness as its theme. Criteria for the routine included the use of one prop, with the squads noticeably using their prop. Dads Jamie Simmons and Robert Mawby built a vintage ballet barre for the Tigerettes to use. The Tigerettes’ journey to the title began in December, when work started on the routine.
