Abby Rash had a choice – continue her soccer career at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville or at Highland (Kan.) Community College. Rash chose Highland. “They were willing to give me a full-ride (scholarship),” said Rash, who graduated May 10 from Excelsior Springs High School. For Rash, playing for Highland is the next step in a soccer career that began at age 4. She has played for area club teams such as Illusion, Amigos and Legacy. She credits her youth coaches for teaching her the game. “My coaches and my mom have had a huge impact on my life, helping me stay focused and keeping a clean and understanding mindset,” Rash said.
