Rogers named AAU All-American
For an Excelsior Springs prep athlete, the track and field season didn’t end with state competition.Kinley Rogers, a Class 4 state qualifier in two events this spring at the high school level, competed in three field events in the 17-18 age group at the AAU Junior Olympics, held July 31-Aug. 3 at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. She finished as an AAU All-American in one of them.“I wanted to go the Junior Olympics to gain experience and compete against the best athletes in the nation, and hopefully, learn from their techniques,” said Rogers, who competes during the summer for Ethos Athletics.Rogers secured her All-American position by placing seventh in the javelin, throwing 35.84 meters on her final throw.
