Royals seek to escape American League Central Division cellar

KANSAS CITY – At just over the onethird mark of the coronavirus-shortened Major League Baseball season, the Kansas City Royals’ fortunes are like those of their past few seasons. At press time, the Royals were 10-15 and in last place in the American League Central Division following an interleague doubleheader with Cincinnati Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium. Led by a three-hitter from right-hander Brad Keller, the Royals took the first game 4-0. Keller also struck out five and walked three through 6 2/3 innings. The Reds took the second game 5-0, as the Royals mustered only one hit. Both games were seven innings. Kansas City started the season by losing two out of three to Cleveland before splitting a four-game set with Detroit on the road.
