Schmidt, Biermann qualify for Class 4 state tournament

Two Excelsior Springs golfers represented their high school at state competition this week. Senior Jacob Schmidt and junior Landon Biermann played in the Class 4 state boys tournament, held Monday and Tuesday at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau. Biermann and Schmidt, who played in the 2023 Class 3 state tournament, qualified for state this year by placing in the top 15 individually at the Class 4 District 4 Tournament, held May 6 at the Paradise Pointe-Posse Course in Smithville. Biermann finished in a threeway tie for seventh by shooting an 85 (+13) for his 18-hole, par-72 round – 10 strokes behind the individual champion, Smithville’s Landin Gregory-Neill. Schmidt finished in a four-way tie for 12th with an 87 (+15). In other district results, junior Tayvion Kennedy shot a 100 (+28) to place 36th, senior Zeb McBee took 38th with a 103 (+31) ...
