Tigers reap postseason honors after third-place finish at state

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Members of Excelsior Springs’ varsity boys soccer team reaped postseason honors for the Tigers’ third-place Class 2 state finish. Senior Ethan Edwards received Class 2 first-team, all-state honors and was named Class 2 Co-Defensive Player of the Year by the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association. Junior goalkeeper Braxton Moffett and sophomore Mason Wartner were second-team all-state selections. Edwards, Moffett, Wartner and freshman Kollin Kincaid made the Region 3 team, with Edwards being chosen as the Region Player of the Year, Moffett the Region Goalkeeper of the Year and Zac Ganzer as the Region Coach of the Year. In addition, Edwards, Kincaid, Moffett, Wartner and freshman Jacob Zapata were first-team all-district picks. Juniors Brendan Blackburn and Colby Mueller were honorable mentions.
