Shue, Layton, Crawley claim titles at Brookfield
On Jan. 19, a trio of Tigers returned to Excelsior Springs from Brookfield as champions.
Lillah Shue, Pyper Layton and Adrien Crawley comprised the trio, winning their respective weight classes to help the Tigers finish third at tournament competition with 93 points. Shue went undefeated to win the 125-pound B division. The sophomore won one match by pin, another by technical fall and a third by medical forfeit.
Layton, a first-year high schooler, won the 130 B title, winning her two matches by pin. Crawley, a sophomore, won the 190 title, getting her two wins by fall.
In other Brookfield Tournament results, first-year high schooler Analese Happy finished second at 110, getting a win by decision and another by fall before losing her final match. Senior Jaylenn Hudlemeyer and junior Kaitlynn Foster
finished third at 120 and 115, respectively.
Blair Oaks took the team championship with 135 points. Brookfield took second with 120 points.
