State qualifiers lead girls grapplers

When it comes to varsity girls wrestling, Excelsior Springs is seeking an identity this season, coach Scott Schwab suggested.“We are still trying to build up our team as a whole,” Schwab said.The team Schwab and his Tigers are trying to build includes two returning state qualifiers and a group of young grapplers. The returning qualifiers are Adrien Crawley, a junior; and Analese Happy, a sophomore. Crawley – who went 28-19 last season, including 1-2 at the Class 1 state tournament – will wrestle again at 190 pounds.“Adrien is one we fully expect to find success and make it back to the state tournament,” Schwab said.Happy went 24-13 last season, including 0-2 at state.At press time, Crawley and Happy were among 18 girls out for high school wrestling.
