EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Many athletes run because they have to. Junior Jacey Brewer is a studentathlete who runs because she has fun doing it. “Being able to run as many miles that I do and to be able to do it with other girls that have the same passion is probably my favorite thing,” Brewer said. Brewer is a three-sport athlete who participates in cross country, track and wrestling at Excelsior Springs High School. Outside of sports, she participates as a Link Leader, helping incoming freshman acclimate themselves to the high school scene. And in her spare time, she also is involved with Small Town Sidekicks, a non-profit organization she created that works to give childhood back to youngsters whose childhood has been taken away from them. Brewer enjoys having the support of the community in whatever she does, she said. Academically, Brewer’s favorite subject is math.
